Finance Business Partner – IT and OCCE (SEO)
What is the most exciting part of your job?
The most exciting part of my job is building and maintaining relationships with my team and customers. I love to create an environment where they feel confident to provide financial information even when finance is not their first language!
What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
I enjoy my work which can be exciting, sometimes fast paced and challenging. There is also the cyclical nature of my role; month-ends, year-ends and spending reviews. It is very varied and I love sharing knowledge and ideas with others in my immediate team and with my customers.
What does your average working day look like?
The most excitingMy average working day is varied. No two days are the same. I can be working on strategy or digging into contracts for financial information. I work with contract managers, senior managers and Directors.
What is your background and how has this helped you in your current role?
My background is that I have been with the MCA and wider DfT family for nearly 20 years. I joined as an AO and progressed through the grades. I have been supported in my learning and professional development journey. I feel that I am part of the MCA finance family which reaches out to partner and support our customers in other areas of the agency.
What kind of projects do you have coming up?
The project I am currently working on is to look at risks and opportunities. As it is mid-year this will add value to look at bringing forward spend from future years if current projects are delayed.
Why did you choose the MCA?
I chose to work at the MCA because I love living by the sea and wanted to be part of the ‘saving lives at sea’ ethos.
