What is it like working in DVSA Digital?
I joined DVSA in 2007 in a Business Intelligence and Analytics role. I later retrained and transitioned across to software development, joining a small team of developers seeking opportunities to improve our systems.
Over the last decade or so, DVSA have invested heavily in building a large, in-house software development capability which supports several critical business systems. In this time, I have progressed to my current role, focussed on leading software development teams in building mobile and webs applications for our frontline operational staff.
What is the most exciting part of this role?
Our software and test engineers get to work with the latest cloud and mobile technologies. They build and maintain software that makes a real difference to our strategic objective of keeping Britain moving, safely and sustainably. We look after some high-profile systems, including the iPad app used to conduct every practical driving test in the UK.
Why would you join our team?
There is genuine opportunity to progress your career within the Agency. We invest heavily in the professional development of our people. Several of our Senior and Lead Engineers started in apprenticeship roles with little or no experience in software or test engineering.
