I joined DVLA a year ago as an Estates Services Manager. My primary role being to co-ordinate and carry out regular monitoring and auditing of the services provided by our contracted service partners and in-house teams. One of the things I really enjoy is that no two days are the same and each one offers a new learning or development opportunity.

The relationships I have made here already have been hugely influential. I work with a great team that supports each other to help achieve common goals and I feel like I am making a difference. I enjoy seeing projects through from start to finish and to know that the work I do is making a difference – and that is truly rewarding.

On one of my first few days I was told ‘every day is a learning day’ and this absolutely still stands. I have a management background, but facilities management was a new field for me. DVLA has invested in my development through the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM). The work I’ve been doing on the IWFM course has been eye-opening and being able to implement what I’ve learned at work has been great for my ongoing development.

Within my first year, I feel I’m more of a well-rounded individual, able to handle difficult situations better and excited to continue learning. The DVLA is a great place for opportunity and progression for anyone who is willing to apply themselves.
